HOW TO MASTER SLEEP — WE REVIEW THE DEFINITION, ARCHITECTURE, PHYSIOLOGY OF SLEEP AND HOW TO MASTER IT

In today's Afternoon Tea session, we had an impassioned, highly knowledgable and dynamic conversation between two experts, unfolding the wonders of Sleep. Dr Adrian Jeyakumar and Mr Nicholas Witton talk us through: the definition, architecture and physiology of sleep. They touch on the different types of Insomnias, the effect of light on our ability to sleep and what we can do to master our sleep issues.

Dr Adrian Jeyakumar is a GP with an interest in further developing Evidence-Based Lifestyle Medicine. He has a Bachelor degree in Public health and Epidemiology and is an Internationally Certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician. Throughout his career as a doctor in the NHS, he has come to realise that medicine needs to be more proactive in preventing chronic disease, through lifestyle education and consultations on an individual and population level, whilst also addressing planetary health and the more distal determinants of wellbeing.

Mr Nick Witton is a sleep specialist and performance coach. Nick holds a Postgraduate degree from the University of Oxford in Sleep Medicine and is currently researching the effects of light exposure on performance for his MSc. He is also qualified as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist for Insomnia (CBTi) and is a member of the British Sleep Society and the European Sleep Research Society. He regularly speaks, teaches and lectures in the field of sleep management and works with businesses and elite athletes to improve individual performance, as well as business and team environments through sleep. He is also a patron of the Sidekick Community charity.
